LA GRANDE, Ore. – Contractors working for the Oregon Department of Transportation will be working along U.S. Highway 30 at the McAlister Lane intersection, two miles east of La Grande. Crews will saw cut the pavement on Friday, and then return next Tuesday, May 30, to begin widening the highway adjacent to the railroad crossing. The changes will improve safety and help accommodate turning movements at the intersections. Travelers can expect flaggers, lane closures and up to twenty minute delays during the construction activities that are scheduled to be completed around the second week of June. Motorists are advised to slow down and drive with extra caution around this and all other highway work zones.
The work will complement the intersections improvements that were constructed in the area last year.
